Leadership – Igniting emotions:

“No matter what leaders set out to do—whether it’s creating strategy or mobilizing teams to action—their success depends on how they do it” (Daniel Goleman).

At a leadership workshop for student leaders @Sheffield Hallam University we explored the six leadership styles defined by Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee.

The effectiveness of each of the styles depends upon the situation.

What is interesting is that each style has an impact on the emotions of those who are ‘following’.

What style(s) have you developed more than others? or what styles need more work? Commanding, Visionary, Democratic, Affiliative, Pacesetting, Coaching?
